Purple and Basingstoke College of Technology are both pleased to announce a
sponsorship deal which sees Purple sponsor four of BCoT’s higher level courses: BTEC Level 3 Extended Diplomas in both Photography and Graphic Design (A level equivalent courses) and the new HNC and HND in Photography.
The choice of courses to sponsor was a straight-forward one for Purple,
as our Creative Director, James Mayfield, explains. “We employ a wide
variety of creative professionals in our business to produce a broad range of innovative
and effective work for our clients. We
felt there was a clear benefit for us in being able to influence what future
generations of graphic designers and photographers are learning about, and
share the benefit of our experience with them.”
Steve Shaw, Purple’s Managing Director, agreed. “From what we’ve seen
of BCoT’s courses, they are turning out young people who are work ready, and who
seem to have a three year head start on many graduates we’ve met. As a local employer, we are only too keen to
support this.”
Natalie Jameson, BCoT’s Head of Department for Art & Design,
believes industry links like this are crucial to the College’s continued
success, as well as providing a useful touchstone for staff.
“BCoT prides itself on how well we prepare our students for their next
steps when they leave us, be that employment or university. With subjects like photography and graphic
design, where the pace of technological change drives rapid developments, we
believe it’s vital to ensure we have strong industry links to keep us all up to
date with those changes. With this
sponsorship agreement and the opportunities it will bring for our staff and
students to work with them, Purple will be helping to make sure our learners
will be as prepared as they can be for this exciting career they have chosen.”
As part of this sponsorship, Purple are are also looking forward to receiving one of the colleges students for a two week work experience placement here at Purple working alongside our creative team, gaining first hand experience of Purple and the services we offer to our clients. We're sure he will receive a very Purple welcome!
